Jack Knight Songwriting Academy

Where your word's become art, and your thought's become music

I would love to know what inspires people to write?
For me it could be a phrase, a word someone says...
A feeling of longing or of loss...
Of joy..frustration of love....

What's your motivation?
What is the latest song you have written and what has inspired it?
What demanded that it be written?

Mine was a track on Jack's page 155bpm....
Something in me connected with it....
The words started coming faster than I could write them down!
I was in a zone!

My Muse kicked into overdrive...
I was excited after writing a few verses I felt I was on to something
I was jumping up an down in the company of myself!
I felt I was in my element!!!
What's the latest song you've written that you've felt like that about?

For me it can be something as simple as a word that I hadn't heard in a while or that I just learned. I also draw a lot of my creativity from hearing other music.
So many things inspires me, emotions, people, situations, books, melodies and my brain starts to paint pictures in the moment I’m inspired. These pictures have colors and sounds and I can feel what I visualize. With writing it down I let all these emotions out, I want that others could feel what I’m feeling in this moment. I don’t just want to write, I want to paint pictures with words others could see. As long as I can think I have this visualization and it let me write...
I am always paying attention to what people say closely.. a word always pops off for me and i get to work, I also am a thinker and always thinking about something, I write from experience and my peeps ecperiences too... so thats what gets me...
So many common inspirations we all have! Isn't it just an awesome feeling knowing there are kindred spirits out there?
I watch peoples reaction to music and it is really a thrill to see what moves them!
You never know what will do it for some and what won't....

It's always good to keep our antennas up, to catch that inspiration when it comes!
Sometimes when I'm drawing a blank I go to the local bookstore and scan the isles for an interesting title!
This works wonders, if nothing else it gets the wheels turning!
I'm really enjoying reading the responses to this topic!-Dana
