about me:
(copied from the "Puzzles pieces" commentbox 09.01.09 )
"hey academy-mates:)
my musical puzzle.
I grew up as the youngest of four sisters.
My father played cello, my mother played piano. I was mostly surrounded by classical music to begin with.
I was always finding animals to bring into the house and I was always playing in the garden.
When I was about 8 we rented a room to a man from Jamaica who taught me about slavery and introduced me to the album"Survival". That was the first record I wished for my Bday.
Later I went to some piano-lessons but I always ended up learning by ear as I couldn't read the notes easily.
My mother had a Billie Holiday record that became the inspiration to my joy of singing.
There is something soothing & healing in her tones.
My older sisters where listening to Beatles, Crusaders, David Bowie, Randy Crawford, and many more.
At my best friend place we heard her older brothers music like Frank Zappa, Thin Lizzy.
In the beginning of my twenties I listened to Jeff Buckley "Grace", Pearljam, Soundgarden. Then I was
asked to be the leadsinger in a Funk/Soul band and therefore I concentrated mostly on listening to that style of music for a period.
A couple of years ago I felt in love with turkish music too :)
I believe that my musicalpuzzle is a mix of it all !
not to forget one of the most important memories....

I used to love singing this song with my mother: "Donna, Donna"

to be continued ... "

You are you

like I am me

We are us

be what it is

is what it should be

You and me

close together

individually free

You in me

Me in you

Never faked

always true

single together

together single

never, forever

2 became 1

even 1 is still 2

all so confusing when I try to explain

I love you!

Nature

Nature’s beauty

takes a human breath

to give universal air.

To let you breath God’s inspiration

to create your best creation

And its passion

comes from the bottom of a heart

and just if you are able to understand

the love that creates this passion

you are able to understand the love

God speaks with

Because nature will never think about

how it can get something

but how it can give everything

All it ever wants

is to create life

that can find life

to give life

And every moment of loud fears

will quietly disappear

when nature proudly holds you

with all its courage

to show you with its strength

that there is nothing to fear

And never

you will see it looking for perfection

because the real truth nature is made of

is a perfection itself

that finds its perfection in you

in every moment

you start looking

into the beautiful eyes of God

they called “Nature” And when you finally start recognizing

all the beauty it shines with

you finally start seeing

God’s greatest creation

Loud Night

How loud a night can be

when loneliness

has recognized

and starts joining me.

And all I wish

is that the shadow I see

would be someone else

than just me.

The night appears darker

when you can't see the moon

and tears start hoping

that the bright moonlight

will reach you soon.

And every song

in this night

that has played its melody

can't be shared

because no one

but you is there

who cared.

How loud a night can be

when it is just loneliness

within yourself you see.

Hey Leah

Nice writing :-)

Leah Madison Comment by Leah Madison on May 7, 2011 at 8:08pm

I haven't posted in forever but i wanted to share what I wrote today...

A merciless hold captivating the very core it kills,

Strangling on the hope of new love.

A eye sight’s  wrapped in shameless touch and disappointment.

Every key stroke further dreamlike and damaging,

No matter the truth told the perceived image altered.

Facades of grander and pageantry paraded as reality,

Skewing the sober daily life of unreturned attention.

Rehearsals o f rejection never buffering the heart pains.

Awkward silences scream of untold communication break downs.

Hollowness taking over no longer fulfilled by tainted desire.

Unsure of proceeding with a damaged connection,

The being is left with only unspeakable actions played out like a movie.

Hoping the scenes are forever etched in memory.

A doubtful payoff never a deterrent for foolish infatuation.

Weight

I thought I was protecting you,
Shielding you from the world
Not imagining for a second
That my actions actually caused you harm

I watched you broken
like a 'Ming' vase
Shattered to shards
Taking precious care of
each painted fragment
Trying to figure it all out
Like puzzle pieces

I now know I can not fix you
But I stay to tend the wounds
That are left behind when life strikes
Wishing I gave you better defenses
Preparing you better for the fight

I think I was saving myself
Through my love for you
Though I was too arrogant to see
But as it stands
I can't tell if I've made you stronger
Or just allowed myself to be weak

Either way,
I loved you with intention
And I suppose
As I look back on things
I should have allowed you
to sip from the cup of my bitterness
Instead of sweetening it all time
If for nothing else
to make you appreciate kindness
and understand true responsibility

I tried to take the weight of life
off your shoulders
Believing it would help you thrive
Instead you got cozy
in the comfort of my love
Leaving me empty because
You never learned how to plant seeds
Or tend love's garden

You only learned to enjoy the fruits of the harvest
And you question why my fields lay barren
