Using the virtual studio room
Here's a few things to keep in mind about this group.
All you have to do is go in the room, when tokbox asks you can it access your camera, click allow (sometimes you will have to click allow twice). Then you should show up. Sometimes it will say voice only, reset your camera. Just click on the reset your camera button and it will access the camera part of your webcam. If you can't get audio or visual, you can go to the settings button and the wizard will guide you. It will help you test your camera and it will help you test your microphone. If there are more than one webcam attached to your PC or more than one audio source, you might have to click the drop down button to see which camera and speaker is working.
If you don't have a webcam, you'll just come up as voice only. We can hear you if you have a mic. If no mic or webcam, you will show up as voice only but you can click in the long box that says type here and click enter to text chat with everyone. If you want your name to show up, you should register an account with tokbox.com and that way when you come into the room we will know who you are. Let me know if those instructions are unclear...
Some general notes:
1. You don't need a webcam to participate, you can text chat in the room too.
2. You can still listen to what's going on in the group without needing anything but your regular internet access to the group.
3. You can text chat some lyrics for example or tips, etc
4. Or if you get a mic, you can be heard but not seen.
5. Amazon.com has some webcams and microphones and I posted some of them on the comment wall.
6. Studio sessions - Because the site is international (go Jack!), we may have to set up sessions by time zones to accommodate everybody. So I was thinking we could set up multiple sessions such as East Coast session, West Coast session, etc. That doesn't mean of course that you can't collab if you're not from that area, if you're up and wanna vibe, jump on in. Just thinking that time zone sessions may work for now until we can see what the common time frame is for the majority.
7. You can also post videos in the room and the chatbox will play the video. I've seen Youtube videos work in there. I don't know about whether vids from other services work yet but try it and let me know.
8. As many as 20 people can be in a room at a time!!! As a practical matter, you may not want that many people in as a time - too many cooks in the kitchen sort a speak... but still we can have that many per room.
9. It's best to use headphones because you can reduce feedback from your stereo into your mic.
10. Sometimes you may have to mute yourself in the room especially if you get or cause a lot of feedback.
11. If you see your screen is stuck, refresh the page and come back into the room.
12. Landline internet connection is best but not a requirement.

my computer is crashing when i go to virtual studios.
it takes forever to load then freezes and crashes.
anybody else havin a problem
i have a new macbook pro laptop. -

Oh no!!! So when you go in the room, does it take forever to load up? And then it crashes? hmmm.... And how long has this been happening? I just went in there today with no problems. I've had the chatroom load very slowly when I'm on wi-fi though and the room won't load at all. Are you on wi-fi? or dial up?

Okay, this problem was posted everywhere: email, my comment wall, the collab corner, and this forum. It seemed like it was a big problem and I posted up a response. But I haven't heard anything back from you. Have you resolved it?
