Montana is an 18 year old unsigned singer/songwriter from Birmingham UK. Most Recently Chosen as BRIT AWARDS 2008 Ambassador. Her first performance, back in 1998, aged just 7 years; she was scouted by Gino, a talent agent from the states. Who instantly booked her in to perform at the 'Empire Windrush gala night, This had live events in Birmingham, Coventry and London. This was just the beginning of her recognized career to date. Montana writes all of her own material and records all of the backing vocals. She also has tracks with her own backing production. Many have described her vocal sound as soulful, funky, rock edged with an R&B vibe. She has a very distinctive vocal. Montana has toured nationally around the UK and has shared the spotlight with some of the UK's most established artists. Including Katherine Jenkins, Heather Small, Beverley Knight, Wayne Marshall, Asassin, Rick Clarke, Don.E, Liberty x and peter Hunningale. She has also worked closely with oblit-r8. All of Montana’s performances have been achieved without management. She was booked purely based on the fact that she has it. Her career to date has taken her to perform at some of the UK's largest event arenas, including Symphony Hall, Birmingham’s Nec, Nia, Manchester Evening News arena, Sheffield arena, 02 arena and Royal Albert Hall London. Not forgetting many smaller venues nationally. Her largest audience was at a sold out concert at Manchester Evening News Arena and she has performed at the MOBO Awards 2007 at the O2 arena in London.Alongside T Pain, Amerie, Mutya, kano, Craig David, Shaggy, Neyo, & Robin Thicke. Montana's track 'high', which she recorded aged 15 years, has had regular airplay on radio stations with great reports from the stations and affiliates alike. Most recently, Montana has appeared on MTV UK, MTV Base and TMF music channel. She has received master classes with Amy Winehouse, Jay Sean, Don-E, the vice president of A&R at RCA/Sony BMG (Mervin Lyn). She has also worked with Flexy Stu of the funkstylerz who choreographed Madonna. Montana has over 100 copyrighted songs written and was placed on the best 30 unsigned UK artists list, by international phone company o2 and industry experts such as DJ Spoony, and the drummer of UK's Duran Duran. Montana was the only urban artist to be featured on the best 30 undiscovered list.
