I go by the name Propa but my real name is Jamel Thomas. I was born in Jacksonville, Florida but raised in New Orleans and Bermuda. I been rapping for the past 8 years and singing all my life.
I first got into rapping when the Hot Boyz first CD came out in the late 90s. I was doing freestyle battles making money off that and after I got into song writing and just kept perfecting my craft over the past few years. And after a while I started ghostwriting for a few artists (singers & rappers) locally.
My musical influences are Jay-Z, Lupe Fiasco, Marvin Gaye, Coldplay, Metro Staton, Nas, Lil Wayne, Ludacris, Run-DMC, R. Kelly, Ne-Yo, Mario, Sean Garrett, Micheal Jackson, Akon. T-Pain, Chris Brown, 50 Cent and Eminem.
I have opened for Mario, Mavado, Tony Matterhorn, Good Friday @ Horseshoe Bay, Hamilton Princess Fashion Show, Peace in The Street (mini tour around Bermuda), Butlers In The Buff series, Beachfest and Chewstick located at Spinning Wheel.
In December 2009, I had released my frst official mixtape (FREE ONLINE) called "Baby Making Music Vol. 1 (R&B Special Edition)" with 12 songs all written and recorded by myself. Which the mixtape gained alot of buzz locally and through facebook with over 7,000 downloads and generated 4 hit singles, "My Everything", "Stalkin' You On Facebook", "The Lights On" and "Give You A Baby" which two music videos were also in rotation through the internet and on Fresh TV cable in Bermuda, "Stalkin' You On Facebook" and "The Lights On" with "Stalkin' You On Facebook" receiving a mass of views and popularity with it's comedy scenes included.
I put my all in my music and love writing songs that make you think you're on a journey through my words. But also I can make that music for the clubs and streets, so just say I'm diverse.
