Butterflies speak of the metamorphosis that we each go through in our lives. According to wikipedia, a butterfly is an insect of the order Lepidoptera. Like all Lepidoptera, butterflies are notable for their unusual life cycle with a larval caterpillar stage, an inactive pupal stage, and a spectacular metamorphosis into a familiar and colourful winged adult form.
You may be a butterfly in your career but still struggling to become the butterfly in your relationships or vice versa. You may be a butterfly in your friends' eyes but still struggling to be that in your family's eyes or vice versa. No matter the area of your life you feel you are struggling to become a butterfly, just keep pushing - you will become the butterfly you are meant to be if you keep on pushing!
As I always do, I look in the mirror and evaluate me, what areas I'm doing well and what areas I feel I need to work on. Sometimes one area is longer than the other. In my last blog, I talked about my outing with my friends and how one friend gave us a journal and a card with butterflies on them. Hearing the story my friend told us yesterday about why she loves butterflies made me realize that I too had made the same connection of my life with the life of a butterfly some years ago. I realize that while I'm pretty happy and proud of the areas in my life that I have accomplished, there are still some areas where I struggle. Some people in my life will see me at the butterfly stage and the pupal. Some will only see the butterflies. Some will only see the worm stage. Thank God that as long as I live, I endeavor to see myself metamorphosing into the person I am meant to be.
