House is a style of electronic dance music that originated in Chicago, Illinois, USA in the early 1980s. It was initially popularized in mid-1980s discothèques catering to the African-American,[1] Latino American,[1] and gay[1][2][3] communities; first in Chicago, then in Detroit, New York City, New Jersey, Los Angeles and Miami.
